Heading to the supermarket today is a nightmare for me given how expensive everything seems to be. Every time I get to the checkout my bill seems to have gone up and my old budget really is no longer affordable now we are trying to save enough to get a mortgage. As such, I picked up some hints and tips for saving a little cash on groceries. They allow me to eat healthily and save more money than I thought would be possible so here are some of them for your food shopping:
# Make a list and never go shopping without one. A list will have everything you need for the week on it so only buy what is written down. This way you will save money and get everything you need in one go!
# Search for coupons online. If you always stick to buying the same products and brands and take a look around the Internet, you will find that there will probably be money off coupons available for them. It might only save pennies but every little helps! Do not buy everything you find a coupon for though otherwise you will probably spend too much on stuff you do not need. For example, if you find a coupon for Solo Slim but do not buy it usually then are you really going to use it now? No! Always look for coupons if you do use it but avoid if not.
# Shop online. You can keep track of your budget and avoid picking up stuff that you would not usually buy as well!
# Try discount supermarkets and always purchase own brands. There is very little difference in terms of quality but you will find that own labels and discount stores cost far less.
# Avoid offers. I wrote this on abother of my blogs and will now quote it because it really is a fantastic tip, even if I do say so myself: "This may sound a little funny because offers are a good thing… and they are if you need the item that is on offer. If you do not need it then don’t buy it. Don’t let the pricetag tempt you! However, if you routinely use something that is on offer then stock up. Toilet rolls, toothpaste, sugar, coffee etc… all are items that keep for some time so stocking up when they are on offer will save you a lot of cash!"
So there you go - now watch how many pennies you save!
