I have blogged about debt priorities before but it occurred to me today when I was working out the bills for the coming month that they are more important than ever in the wake of the credit crunch and ensuing recession. Believe it or not, many people are still confused by such terms but now is definitely the time to learn.
For example, your debt priorities are those payments that are of paramount importance every month and absolutely HAVE to be paid. Your mortgage or rent and utilities bills come in this category. Any other credit payments or expenses that you may have are secondary. The exception to this rule is insurance as you will often find that your insurance policies become invalid if you miss a payment. As such, you should be splitting your monthly outgoings in line with this principle. Pay what needs to be paid first and then deal with other payments that are necessary. Similarly, if you get a windfall, such as a mesothelioma payment or a compensation payment of any sort (let's face it, much more likely than winning more than £10 on the lottery), then you shouls use it to pay a little off the mortgage or settle any outstanding debt priorities you have. Once they are sorted, save some and pay the rest of further debts. You will get peace if mind and feel better for the financial safety net in the credit crunch!

The Recession, Crime Rates And Your Identity
Did you know that crime rates have already started to increase thanks to the global recession that is having a huge impact on the world? Crime statistics have reported a surge in robberies, home invasions and other crimes that reolve around theft but nothing is more scary than the statistics about identity theft. It is the fastest growing crime around the world, affecting more than 9 million annually in America alone. Unfortunately, that number is set to rise.
There could be nothing worse than falling victim to identity theft at the moment because if you are struggling to pay the bills and keep up with debts, or even if you are still able to pay them effectively, then someone stealing your identity is the last thing you need. If someone ruins your credit now then imagine what difficulties you will have in the coming months and years of recession should you need to apply for a loan or a credit card.
There are plenty of identity theft protection measures that you can take, including shredding documents, cancelling old credit sources and even taking out insurance but please make sure that you do take steps to protect yourself before it is too late.

Final Point About Online Reviews!
OK - final point about online reviews I promise! Check out the Clinicallix reviews behind the link. They have a percentage scale and a facility for consumers to either "like" or "dislike" it and vote either way. The votes mean just as much as the text does because it represents views of people like you. The more votes the better is the general rule because you get a greater idea of the overall opinion of a product. Websites like Ciao! (which is linked to in the sidebar) also have this facility so use it wherever possible before buying anything online!

Avoid The Internet Sales Trap Part 2!
Last week I wrote about avoiding the sales trap when you receive an email or found a website that offered the best product for this, that and the other. However, reading it back, I reaslised that I had missed off one absolutely essential tip that you should use to your own advantage - the beauty of CONSUMER reviews.
I realised that all the tips I gave actually referred to professional reviews versus sales letters. Well, there is another form of review you can usually trust. The consumer review is excellent for working out just how useful a product is. They are generally honest (take a look at nuphedra review for an example). Providing that they sound like a real person wrote them rather than reading like a professional recommendation then the likelihood is that someone has written the review because they want to help others so try to find a few consumer reviews for the best opinion!

Avoid The Internet Sales Trap And Save Money
If I had $1 for every advert for the new miracle cure for this and the new product that is the best thing for that just recently I'd be at least a few thousand betteroff. Is it just me or have the number of ads sent to inboxes gone up? Is it a cost effective way of advertising or a way to annoy everyone beyond belief? I am sick of it, especially when I look at the ads and see sales copy that has blatantly been composed by someone that has neve tried the product.
Unfortunately, more and more people are falling for clever sales copy and spending money that they can ill afford on products that are of unbelievably poor value. You need to avoid this rubbish and make sure that you do purchase the best products for you. So how do you spot the sales copy that you should avoid with a barge pole?
Well, first of all, look for a balanced review. It should have pros and cons, significant information that implies someone has tried the product (strong opinions that relate specifically to one element of the product) and an overall view of whether it is value for money. Any reviews that seem overly biased should not be trusted and any reviews that say a product is not a scam should be disregarded because they would not feel the need to say that if it was not the company promoting the product.
If you want to see an actual review that has obviously been completed by someone that has tried the product and remained unbased throughout then this Colonix page will help you to figure out what to look for.
Down with rubbish sales letters! Say hello to consumer power and knowledge!

Easter Vacations At Low Prices
So this is my third post in a row about holidays and vacations... can you tell that I'm desperate to go on holiday and get away from the stresses and strains of the world at the moment. I think everyone could do with that to be honest. Anyway, just a quick post today about an offer I saw online a few days ago. Westgate is currently offering weekend breaks for $149 per person, which is incredibly cheap given just how expensive some of their breaks usually are. If you are interested in booking a trip over Easter or even into the summer then you should look at this offer now before it expires.
I might actually start posting bargains and coupon codes on here as well as financial information. Let me know what you think.
